As robots are becoming more widely used in many application areas, pervasive, modelling and supporting human-robot collaboration through speech spoken dialogue is of critical a topic that gains importance. Collaboration requires communication about the task at hand, and communication/dialogue in natural language, often in combination with other modalities, is a natural form of task-oriented communication for humans to engage in.
The goal of this seminar is to cover selected recent work on the processing of verbal and nonverbal communication that is relevant for developing human-robot collaboration applications. Example topics include ...… context tracking and representation in dialogue; integrating existing domain knowledge into dialogue systems; representing extra-linguistic communicative cues.
This seminar will be held as a block seminar with one or two introductory lectures at the beginning of the semester and one block of talks at the end of the semester/ during the lecture-free period.
